What concrete, travertine and porcelain pavers cost in Florida per square foot for patios and pool decks, plus demolition, sealing and worked examples.
Pavers are the default for Florida patios, pool decks and driveways. They come in a wide range of materials and prices, and the cheapest bid isn't always the best value, because most of the long-term performance comes from what's under the pavers.
| Item | Estimated range | What affects it |
|---|---|---|
| Concrete pavers | $12–$18per sq. ft. | The most common patio, driveway and pool deck choice. |
| Travertine pavers | $17–$28per sq. ft. | Natural stone. Popular for pool decks. Price depends on grade and finish. |
| Porcelain pavers | $20–$32per sq. ft. | Dense, low-maintenance and consistent. Cutting adds labor. |
The ranges include excavation, a compacted base, sand bedding, edge restraint and joint sand. A complex pattern, curves, borders and lots of cuts around a pool or planters push prices up. For dated Melbourne and Brevard County prices, see paver patio costs in Melbourne.
| Item | Estimated range | What affects it |
|---|---|---|
| Removing an existing concrete slab or pool deck | $2–$6per sq. ft. | Thicker or reinforced concrete and tight access cost more. |
| Cleaning and sealing pavers | $0.75–$3.50per sq. ft. | Optional. Repeated every few years if you choose to seal. |
These examples use our paver calculator.

Concrete pavers are the most common and least expensive option. They come in many shapes and colors and suit patios, walkways and driveways. If you're also weighing a poured slab, see concrete vs. pavers for a Florida patio.
Travertine is a natural stone with a classic look around pools. Quality varies by grade and finish, and the price follows. We compare it with concrete pavers in travertine vs. concrete pavers for pool decks.
Porcelain pavers are dense, consistent and low-maintenance, with a modern look. They cost the most to buy, and cutting them takes more time.
Whatever you choose, ask about slip resistance for pool decks, how hot the surface gets in direct sun, and how the color will look after a few years of Florida sun.
If you're redoing a pool deck, check the screen enclosure at the same time. The cage is anchored into the deck or a footing, and replacing pavers around it means working carefully around the anchors. Many homeowners combine a pool deck with a rescreen or new enclosure; see our screen enclosure cost guide.
Ask each installer to list the area, the paver product and size, base material and depth, compaction method, edge restraint, joint sand type, demolition and haul-away, and whether sealing is included. When one quote is far below the others, the difference is often in the base. Our guide to why contractor quotes differ explains what to look for. In an HOA community, get approval for the material and color first; see HOA approval in Florida.
Usually not upfront. Plain poured concrete typically costs less per square foot. Pavers cost more to install but individual pavers can be lifted and replaced, and cracks in the base don't show the way they do in a slab.
Sometimes. If the existing concrete is sound and the finished height still works with doors, drains and pool coping, some installers lay thin pavers over it. Ask the installer to check, because covering a failing slab just moves the problem.
It's optional. Sealing can make cleaning easier and help keep joint sand in place, but it has to be repeated every few years. Ask your installer what they recommend for the material you choose.
Often not for a simple patio, but rules vary. Driveway work, work in the right-of-way, drainage changes and pool decks can involve permits or zoning review, and most HOAs require approval. Check with your county or city.
