Referral Disclosure

We want you to know exactly how this site works, so you can decide how much weight to give what we say and whether to use our Find a Contractor service.

How we're funded

Florida Renovation Guide is free for homeowners to use. The site is supported through relationships with contractors serving Florida. The commercial purpose of this site is to help homeowners plan remodeling and construction projects, and to connect people who are ready to hire with a contractor.

What happens when you submit a project

When you complete our Find a Contractor form:

• Your inquiry is emailed to us. There's no automated matching: we review it ourselves.
• If an affiliated or participating contractor serves your area and does the kind of work you need, we may refer your project to that contractor. We'll only share your details with a contractor so they can contact you about your project by phone or email, as described on the form.
• If no affiliated or participating contractor serves your area, we won't share your inquiry, and we'll be in touch only if we can help.
• We can't promise that every inquiry will be referred, or that you'll hear from a contractor within any particular time.

We may receive a financial benefit from some referrals. That benefit doesn't cost you anything; there's no fee to use the form, and there's no obligation to hire anyone.

What we don't do

• We don't run an open marketplace. We don't compare every contractor in your area, and we don't claim that the contractor we refer you to is the best or cheapest available.
• We don't verify contractors for you. We don't independently confirm a contractor's license, insurance, workers' compensation coverage or quality of work on your behalf. Please check any contractor yourself, including one we refer, using our guide to checking a contractor's license.
• We don't publish rankings or reviews of contractors, and we don't accept payment to mention a business in our guides.
• We don't sell your information, add you to marketing lists, or use your details for marketing calls, texts or emails.

How this affects our content

Our cost guides, permit guides and hiring advice are written to be useful whether or not you ever use our referral service. Our relationships with contractors do not affect the information or pricing guidance published on the site. Our editorial standards explain how we research and update them. If you think we've got something wrong, please tell us.
