FLORIDARenovation Guide

Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This policy explains how Florida Renovation Guide ("Florida Renovation Guide", "we", "us") handles personal information collected through floridarenovationguide.com. We collect only what we need, we tell you why, and we use it only for that purpose unless you agree otherwise.

What we collect

When you use the Find a Contractor form

The form collects:

  • your ZIP code, so we know where the project is
  • your project type, description, approximate budget and timing
  • photos, if you choose to add them
  • your first and last name, phone number and email address
  • a record of your consent, including which version of the consent wording you agreed to and when

We also record which page you came from and how you found the site (for example, a search engine, a link or a campaign tag in the web address), so we know which guides help people.

To protect the form from spam, we briefly use your IP address to limit repeated submissions. We don't keep it or include it with your inquiry.

When you use the contact form

Your name, email address, the topic and your message.

When you browse the site

  • Basic technical information that any website receives, such as your browser type and the pages requested, which our hosting provider may log for security and reliability.
  • Analytics. If enabled, we use analytics to understand how the site is used, such as which pages are read and which calculators are used. We don't send your name, email, phone number, full ZIP code or project description to analytics providers. Where analytics uses cookies, we ask for your consent first (see Cookies below).
  • Information stored in your own browser, such as the page you first arrived on and campaign tags, used to tell which guide led to an inquiry, and your cookie choice. This stays on your device unless you submit a form.

How the Find a Contractor form works

  1. When you submit the form, the website emails your inquiry, including any photos, to us through our email delivery provider. The website doesn't keep a separate database of inquiries.
  2. We review it. There's no automated matching.
  3. If an affiliated or participating contractor serves your area and does the kind of work you need, we may share your inquiry with that contractor so they can contact you about your project by phone or email.

We can't promise that every inquiry will be shared, or that a contractor will contact you. Our referral disclosure explains these relationships.

Why we use it

  • To review your project inquiry and, where we can, share it with an affiliated or participating contractor serving your area so they can contact you about that project
  • To respond to messages you send us
  • To understand which content is useful and improve the site
  • To protect the site against spam and abuse
  • To meet legal obligations

We don't sell personal information. We don't add people who submit an inquiry or a message to mailing lists, and we don't use their details for marketing calls, texts or emails.

When you submit the Find a Contractor form, you agree that we may share the information in it with an affiliated or participating contractor serving your area, so they can contact you by phone or email about your project.

Contractors who receive your inquiry are separate businesses responsible for how they handle your information once they have it. We share it only so they can contact you about your project.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us. If you withdraw consent before your inquiry is shared, we won't share it. If it has already been shared, we'll let the contractor know you've asked not to be contacted.

Service providers

We use service providers to run the site: website hosting, email delivery, and, if enabled, spam protection and analytics. They process information on our behalf, under our instructions, and only as needed to provide their services. Some providers may store or process information in other states or countries.

How long we keep it

Inquiries and contact-form messages are kept in our email account for as long as we need them to respond, follow up on your project, keep a record of your consent and meet legal obligations. We don't set an automatic deletion date. You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see Your choices below).

Security

We protect personal information with safeguards appropriate to its sensitivity, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and keeping inquiry details out of publicly accessible parts of the site. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will act promptly, including notifying affected people where the law requires, if a problem arises.

Cookies

Florida Renovation Guide works without cookies. If we use an analytics service that sets cookies, such as Google Analytics, it's loaded only after you choose "Accept analytics" in our cookie banner. You can change your choice using the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page, and you can clear cookies and site data in your browser at any time. We don't use advertising cookies.

Your choices

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, subject to legal requirements. Contact us through our contact form and choose "Privacy or personal information request". We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.

Children

This site is intended for adults planning work on their homes. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and for significant changes we'll make the change clear on the site.
